Eightfold AI coding interview: 4 candidate reports
Latest report: September 2026 · Updated
What candidates say the round looked like, summarised in our words, each linked to where it came from. Eightfold hasn’t confirmed these details unless the source says “Official page”.
Senior engineer loop. After a strong 90-minute low-level design round, the second round combined system design with AI coding: collect a stream of data, process it, and take actions based on the input. The candidate found the interviewer unhelpful, struggled with the problem and got a no hire for that round.
Fully coding-based screening round run by Eightfold’s AI agent. It opened with 2 or 3 simple resume questions (course, projects, self-introduction), then gave two LeetCode-hard problems back to back, one heap-based scheduling problem and one graph cycle problem. The questions focused on approach plus time and space complexity.
On-campus Agentic AI intern hiring. The first step was an AI-conducted coding interview: about 60 minutes, 2 coding questions, run by Eightfold’s AI agent. You can’t run or submit the code; you write the final solution in the editor. The agent asks follow-ups on edge cases, alternative approaches, complexity and why you picked a data structure, so it works as a conversational coding test. The candidate was shortlisted for a take-home build-an-agent assignment.
Eightfold’s online coding round was run by a speaking AI interviewer. It introduced the platform, walked through each question with the candidate and asked them to explain their approach, corner cases and why it works before moving on. There were 2 algorithm questions. The code was written in something like a notepad with autocorrect, and it couldn’t be run, which the candidate saw as the crucial difficulty.
