Final round included an ‘AI enhanced domain’ round on an existing codebase in 3 parts. The candidate read and understood the code themselves, formed a hypothesis for each fix, then worked with the built-in assistant to implement it, iterating until every test passed, and got through all 3 parts. They were still rejected, with the feedback that they ‘used the AI a little too much’. The other rounds, behavioural and a technical execution round coded in a blank editor, went well.

Coinbase’s AI Recruiter Screen is a conversation with an AI that this candidate compared to talking to ChatGPT. It gives an overall feel for the role and, for them, was behavioural only. They ran out of time trying to cover every question, so have resume talking points for the role ready. Check that the invite email is genuine before you start.
